This years Sports Weekend Extravaganza was somewhat of a rarety. There were two major acts at two different venues one representing HipHop and the other representing reggae. Baby Cham was to be at one venue while Def Jam recording Artist 112 was at another.
By all accounts most people were at the Baby Cham Show almost 900 to 1000 people were inside Fogolar while approximately 250 went to see 112. Baby Cham never performed we were told he had some issues with getting a visa/work permit or something to that effect. Instead, it was The Reggae Dancehall King "Lexxus" who gave the performance. Music was provided by our own Roots Rock Sound and inspite of some issues with the circuit breaker tripping a few times Roots Rock Sound played excellent.
The sounds that played included Spex (Dancehall Reggae), Ill Kidz (Hiphop) & Soca Monarchs (Soca & Calypso) all kept the vibes jiggy for the energized crowd. Although everyone would have preferred to see Baby Cham, I mean who didn't want to hear "Ghetto Story" live. However, Lexxus did not dissapoint the crowd, from the moment he came on it was pure excitement. Hits like "Step inna di video light" & "Gal you caan cook' had the crowd eating out of his palms. Lexxus performed for over an hour an a half and by all acounts no one left dissapointed. It was dissapointing however, that Baby Cham was not there hopefully he can be there next year or even sooner here in the "D"
